001: Beginnings (Las Vegas, NV 06/16/2011)

One of the more entertaining things about urban art, is that no two styles are done the same way, or in the same medium.

When I compared this tag set to the others I’d seen already, I realized that the paint on this one was different from what other artists had been using. This was a cheaper, hollower kind of paint that seemed to be water based instead of oil based, resulting in a paint that faded fast in the desert sun.

It’s interesting to see this script after the fact. Looking towards the end of the logo, it’s apparent that this was thrown up in a pretty big hurry (judging by the quickness of the stroke and the non-unified lines).

Sometimes it’s kind of cool to see what’s just barely behind the curtain.
