I couldn’t tell you if this was a commissioned piece, or if it’s many different artists leaving their marks, but the back of the Williams Costume Company was sporting it all with some left over.
As far as I can tell, this mural has been here for several years – the earliest photo I can find with this on it is from April ‘09. Comparing it to the shots that I took, it’s obvious to see several things have been added over the years. Most noticeably, that blue angry man-head near the top. This piece stands in direct sunlight for 18 hours a day, so it’s possible to see that the colors have been baked in to the stone. The longer a tag has been there, the more muted the colors. Comparing the different contrasts was a lot more fun than it should have been.
As a side note, the door completely disappears into the wall when it’s closed. If it wasn’t for the two German dogs charged me when it opened, I probably wouldn’t have seen it.
For some reason, dogs and street art are a hand in hand thing in Vegas.
