A lot of the businesses on either side of these alleys have moved on to other parts of Vegas, Downtown or otherwise, but most of them have just closed their doors – resulting in miles and miles of empty canvas space.
Which brings us to this: it has to be the second longest mural here. Clocking in at 45 feet (at least), this highly detailed logo complete with a Suicide King – it is Vegas, after all – and a random metal pole that I forgot to move before I took the shot was a sight to see. It’s done on a cinderblock wall, but this one wasn’t directly facing the sun. The artist used premium as opposed to cheap water based paint, and got a bright, vibrant finish.
This one was painted to last.
I really enjoy it when the artists use the environment as part of the piece, or in this case, simply paint over whatever is getting in their way. Towards the top and bottom of this one, it’s possible to see the framing pipe that the artists apparently had no interest in moving, so it became part of the canvas. I’m also a fan of the cyan in the back – I haven’t seen that particular shade on any other piece before or since I took this shot.
