025: FHR (Salt Lake City, UT 04/19/2015)

This newfound audience I suddenly had were frozen in place, their eyes watching me as I took shot after shot, purposely taking great care to not step on anything that might be considered somebody’s dirty binky or security blanket. I imagine that the graf artists, who were probably around a lot more frequently than I was, had a better relationship with the people who were here regularly as opposed to some weird-looking guy who dropped in with a camera and started taking pictures. These people didn’t look too dangerous (except for the one who eventually pulled out a knife and started playing with it in his lap), but it’s always a concern when I’m out documenting the streets. Not surprisingly, a big part of my job as a photographer is trying not to die, get killed, or maimed.

Some places aren’t as safe to shoot in as others.
