Before it was demolished, the alleys in Downtown Vegas – although being sketchy as hell – always sported a lot of good, highly detailed work. A lot it is tagging: writers who are signing the wall to test paint, try new styles, or just have the urge to create something beautiful.
I’ve heard a lot of chatter about how these kinds of artists have no understanding of “real art,” but I couldn’t disagree more. This one clearly understood at least basic Color Theory (warm letters, cool background) and has spent some time studying what colors go with what. The green dots emphasizing the base colors help bring it all together.
Just because you’re a wall writer doesn’t mean you can’t understand art.
