This is another great example of an artist understanding color. It’s impossible to tell in print, but when you’re actually standing there examining this up close, the little details are just fantastic.
The textured spots on the different letters are one color that’s been mixed with the yellow/orange to create the right tint, and the whole thing’s been laid out on a slick black background for contrast. I came very close to missing this one, but it was just begging to be shot.
Regrettably, this one had been slashed through. In addition, when I returned a few months later, I found that this, along with the entire alleyway, had been blown up in preparation for a new Arts Square building in the center of the Arts District.
